Tale of Two Meeting Days
On a recent business trip, I had two very different days.
Both days were filled with meetings with brilliant people, which always gives me energy. On both days, I had an invigorating early morning run.
The only difference was sleep. One day, I had 8 hours of sleep; the other day, I had only 5 hours of sleep (due to time zone differences, loud noises in the hotel hallway, etc.).
I was a completely different person on each day.
On a good sleep day, I was calm, cool, friendly, and funny (at least I thought I was funny 🙂 I wanted the meetings to keep going.
On a bad sleep day, I was easily distracted, sweating a lot (for some reason, I sweat a lot when I don’t get enough sleep), wasn’t really smiling, and wanted meetings to end sooner.
From marriage to work, life is all about meeting the right person. Next in importance is keeping your energy level high, so that when you do get to meet the right person, your high energy level makes you a likable person.
And when it comes to keeping your energy level up, a huge part of that is getting enough sleep – that’s what I’m finding out more as I get older.
