If there’s one thing I’m recommending ~all founders I meet, it’s running. (I actually converted a few founders around me into lifelong endurance runners which I’m super proud of.)
Running is good for everybody but IMO it’s particularly great for startup founders.
Why? Because their head is always full of thoughts. There are always a million different things fighting for attention and solution.
Running has this magical ability to boil things down to clarity. You start with 10 complex thoughts, after running, you end up with maybe 2.
Reduction is only one side of things – there’s also the other side which is helping you come up with new ideas.
You won’t exactly write 10 page PRDs while running 🙂 But you feel so great that fresh exciting ideas will keep coming to find you while running. Sometimes the ideas are so good that I ask Siri to send a quick note to myself.
Happy running, founders!
