Have you recently met someone who’s impacting your life positively? Someone you met recently that you really like?
Now, did you take time to remember who made the intro, go back the “intro chain” and thank him or her?
Most of us do a pretty decent job at thanking the original person who made the intro, but still sometimes things do slip. Sometimes the meeting gets scheduled far down the road, or we’re enjoying the new relationship so much, that we forget about the person who made the original intro.
But this isn’t right etiquette. Always try to remember who made the intro and thank them.
If you met a new person through a community, it might also be a good idea to thank the folks who started the community. “Thank you for creating such a wonderful community – I wouldn’t have been able to meet X were it not for the community you created.”
If you’re forgetful like me, it might be a good practice to regularly review a/ who are some of the amazing folks you met recently, b/ remember who introduced those people in the first place, and c/ thank them.
Most of good things in our life didn’t just happen; they happened because someone made the right introduction(s). We’re often too busy to focus on the present that we forget the people in our past who made the present possible.
