A few things you’re not supposed to say during VC pitch meetings 🙂
/ “No rush! Take your time, review our materials, and let us know” – You should have a firm (and ideally, short) window and clearly communicate it
/ “It’s now or never – this round will be filled very quickly” – No it’s not, there’s always the next round. Don’t be passive aggressive
/ “You dinged us twice already, but…” – Why bring up the memory and make the conversation awkward? It’s better to say “Since our last meeting, we’ve had these progresses…”
/ “That’s what we mentioned in our deck, which we already sent to you” – No one reads a deck cover to cover, let alone remember it, so don’t make anyone feel guilty and just give the answer
/ “We’re confident these numbers will get us acquired” – You look like someone who’s only interested in flipping the company
