One way to find a new B2C business opportunity in 2025:
- Look for web services that were built 10–20 years ago that still have a large user base but haven’t seen innovations in years.
- Reasons might include – company exchanged hands 3 times by now and is now owned by a PE firm; business is still generating solid revenue, so their management team’s mindset is “don’t fix what’s not broken”; etc.
- Reimagine the service with an AI first approach: If AI had existed before the service existed, what would this service have looked like? Think services like: Yelp, Indeed, Kelly Blue Book, Rotten Tomatoes, you name it
- What would be one small niche you can own as an opening and a wedge? Head to head competition would be a suicide move (they’ve been a powerful incumbent for many years for a reason)
